Anthropomorphized Version of Sanrio's Fillet Mascot Kirimi-chan Gets 2 Manga in April

Kirimi-chan credited for 1st manga, Soyogo Iwaki draws 2nd manga

The official website of Kadokawa's Sylph magazine announced on Monday that the magazine will begin serializing a manga this month based on the anthropomorphized version of Sanrio's Kirimi-chan mascot. The manga is titled Kirimi-chan Gijinka Aquarium ~Kirimi-tachi no Legend~, and Kirimi-chan herself is credited as the writer, with assistance from Nakkuru Kimura.

A separate Kirimi-chan comic titled Kirimi-chan Kirimi Danshi to Doki Doki Date by Soyogo Iwaki (Alice in the Country of Clover: March Hare) will also debut in the magazine this month. The manga will focus on Kirimi-chan going on dates with her male friends.

Sanrio debuted the original Kirimi-chan. character in February 2014, after it garnered popularity in Sanrio's edible character voting competition the year before. Sanrio has since begun selling character goods based on the character. The mascot has also appeared in cross-promotions for games such as Monster Hunter X and Sanrio's own Sanrio Characters Fantasy Theater.

Sanrio debuted the anthropomorphized version of the Kirimi-chan characters last September.

The anthropomorphized character has previously received a dialogue-based "situation CD." Tsubasa Yonaga (Free! Eternal Summer's Nagisa, Valvrave the Liberator's Prue and Yowamushi Pedal's Sangaku Manami) voices both the original mascot and the anthropomorphized version.
