This Nissan Car Expresses Driver Emotions With Manga Effects

posted on by Karen Ressler
Car reads driver brainwaves, projects them onto the ground

Nissan is celebrating the 5th anniversary of its totally electric Nissan Leaf, and to do so it teamed up with NeuroSpace and produced a special version car. As the video below shows, the car comes equipped with a headband that will read the driver's brainwaves and project their emotions on the pavement in the form of one of 33 manga-style sound effects.

In March, about 30 drivers turned out to try the special Nissan Leaf. The video mainly shows how excited they are by the experience—the reaction Nissan was surely hoping for—but what other possibilities are there? Will this car reflect road rage? What about boredom? And don't miss the "doki doki" (heart throb) balloon that pops up in the video when the girl drives past the boy.

The brainwave-controlled cat ears have made rounds at anime conventions and elsewhere. The company, neurowear, has branched out into music players that select music for you based on brainwaves.
