Celebrate 30 Years of Slime Slashing with Dragon Quest Anniversary Video

The Dragon Quest video game franchise is in the midst of its 30th anniversary celebrations this year. The fantasy role-playing game series has received announcement after announcement. Just this week, Square Enix previewed next year's Itadaki Street (Fortune Street) game for PlayStation 4 and PlayStation Vita titled Itadaki Street: Dragon Quest & Final Fantasy 30th Anniversary. The company is also aiming to release Dragon Quest XI: Sugisarishi Toki wo Motomete (Dragon Quest XI: In Search of Departed Time) role-playing game within the series' 30th anniversary before May 27, 2017.

In a new video, Square Enix highlights the many recent game releases, marketing campaigns, and other celebrations from the year so far.

Japan saw the release of Dragon Quest Heroes II: Futago no Ō to Yogen no Owari (Dragon Quest Heroes II: The Twin Kings and the End of the Prophecy) action game for PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, and PS Vita this year and several mobile titles.

North America is also getting the Dragon Quest Builders "sandbox action RPG" next month, Dragon Quest VII: Fragments of the Forgotten Past sometime this year, and Dragon Quest VIII: Journey of the Cursed King 3DS port next year.

Outside of video game releases, the franchise also got a live-action stage play tour and television show, an exhibition with recreated full-size armor, and merchandise tie-ins with Fit's gum, sake, Toyota Prius, and much more.
