Ghost Talker's Daydream's Meguro Draws Pride and Prejudice and Zombies Image
posted on by Lynzee Loveridge
The reimagined Jane Austen story Pride and Prejudice and Zombies is opening in Japan on September 30. The film combines the classic romance story of Elizabeth and Mr. Darcy against the backdrop of a 19th century England overrun by zombies.
Manga creator Sankichi Meguro, the creator Ghost Talker's Daydream, is currently serializing a manga with a similar story with writer Kyōsuke Kagami based on the Kokoro novel by the late Sōseki Natsume. Meguro and Kagami's version of Kokoro, like the Pride and Prejudice and Zombies film, is a horror reimagining featuring—you guessed it—zombies.
Meguro was approached to draw a collaboration image between the two works. The image shows the characters from the film and Meguro's own manga together fighting off the undead.
Manga artists have previously been tapped to create artwork for Japanese premieres of Hollywood films. Fairy Tail's Hiro Mashima drew a poster for Captain America: Civil War and Blood: The Last Vampire illustrator Katsuya Terada drew a poster for Guillermo del Toro's Pacific Rim.
