Black Butler: Book of the Atlantic Film Gets Private Screening Cruise

posted on by Jennifer Sherman

The Kuroshitsuji: Book of the Atlantic (Black Butler: Book of the Atlantic) anime film will sail into theaters across Japan on January 21. Before it makes land on the silver screen, Aniplex is offering a chance for fans to experience the film through a private screening on a real cruise liner.

The Kuroshitsuji Cruising Party ~Sono Shitsuji, Shukkō~ (Black Butler Cruising Party: That Butler, Sailing) event will open at 10:30 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. on January 14 and January 15. Tickets will go on sale for 19,800 yen (about US$191) on the Aniplex+ website at 12:00 p.m. on October 22.

The unique cruise will include a complete advance screening of the anime film. The ship will set sail from Tokyo's Hinode Pier and sail around Tokyo Bay for four hours. The event dress code is semiformal. Passengers will get to enjoy a full-course French meal along the way.

The cruise will feature themed decorations and announcements from the anime's characters. Limited-edition goods will be available for sale, and guests will also receive a commemorative CD and special welcome card as souvenirs.

The film's website added additional cast members, a second promotional video, and a new key visual on Tuesday. The film adapts the "Gōka Kyakusen" (luxury liner) arc, which appeared in the 11th through 14th volumes of Yana Toboso's original Black Butler manga. The story is set on the luxury liner Campania and centers around secrets to resurrecting the dead.

The returning cast includes:

Noriyuki Abe is directing the anime at A-1 Pictures, and Hiroyuki Yoshino is writing the script. Minako Shiba is designing the characters and serving as chief animation director. Yasunori Mitsuda is composing the music. All are returning from the earlier Book of Circus and Book of Murder anime, and A-1 Pictures and Shiba have been involved in the franchise since the first Black Butler anime.
