Universal Studios Japan Previews Godzilla 4D Attraction in TV Ad

posted on by Jennifer Sherman

The Godzilla the Real 4D attraction will debut at the Universal Studios Japan theme park in Osaka on January 13. Universal Studios Japan began streaming a television commercial for the attraction in December.

The attraction utilizes the theme park's 4D theater that incorporates features like 3D images, mist, seat movements, and air blasts to give visitors the feeling that they are part of the action. In the upcoming attraction's story, Godzilla descends on Osaka. Fighter planes take off from the aircraft carrier Kiryū to combat the radioactive monster. Godzilla flattens a path from Yodo River to Osaka's Umeda district. The frenzied battle leads to Universal Studios Japan where the defense forces must control Godzilla's wrath.

Universal Studios Japan revealed in August that Godzilla would invade the park this year, and it announced the full lineup of its latest Universal Cool Japan set of pop culture-themed attractions in October. This newest installment will feature six attractions, including five inspired by the Evangelion, Godzilla, Attack on Titan, Case Closed, and Monster Hunter franchises.

Godzilla the Real 4D will run as part of the Universal Cool Japan 2017 promotion at Universal Studios Japan until June 25. The attraction showcases Hideaki Anno's recreation of the classic monster from last year's live-action Shin Godzilla film. Funimation screened the film in North America, Central America, South America, and the Caribbean in late 2016.

Last summer's "Universal Jump Summer" attractions hosted Goku and Frieza's battle in the 4D theater, a Death Note real escape game, and the Universal Jump Exhibition, which showcased exhibits from various Shonen Jump manga series.
