Producer: Genocidal Organ Film Was 20% Complete Before Manglobe's Bankruptcy

Yamamoto said that the anime had entered sound production one month before it was originally slated to open on November 13, 2015. Around that time, members of the film's staff had reported that the film was about 60% complete. However, Yamamoto said the reality was different.
When the staff added colors, they had to do retakes to maintain the film's quality. Those corrections took about half a year, and more errors kept appearing before the staff could check for existing errors. Those complications led the film to be only about 20% complete by the time Manglobe announced bankruptcy.
Manglobe filed for bankruptcy on September 29, 2015 and formally began its bankruptcy proceedings on November 4. The official website for film adaptations of late author Project Itoh's novels announced on October 2, 2015 that the film had been delayed. The website then announced on November 13 that the newly established Geno Studio would complete Genocidal Organ. Director and writer Shukou Murase and "other main staff members" continued to work on the project at Geno Studio.
As a Fuji TV producer, Yamamoto worked on television anime including Eden of the East, anohana, and Guilty Crown. He established Geno Studio to continue production of Genocidal Organ. The studio is a 100% subsidiary company of the anime production company Twin Engine. Yamamoto served as the producer for Fuji TV's late night programming block Noitamina for many years before going independent and establishing Twin Engine in 2014.
The anime film will open in Japan on February 3. Viz Media's Haikasoru imprint describes Genocidal Organ's original novel:

North American anime publisher FUNimation Entertainment debuted the other two Project Itoh films, The Empire of Corpses and Harmony, in select theaters last year in April and May, respectively. The company has also licensed Genocidal Organ.
