Rose of Versailles' Chocolate Campaign Manga Get Booklet Release

posted on by Jennifer Sherman

Riyoko Ikeda's two one-shot Rose of Versailles manga that she released for the Takashimaya department store's current Valentine's Day chocolate campaign are getting a booklet release. People who spend at least 5,000 yen (about US$44) at Takashimaya's Amour du Chocolat! event from February 11 until Valentine's Day will receive the "Original Mini Comic" while supplies last.

Takashimaya department stores throughout Japan will offer a total of 25,000 booklets. The booklets will include "Tokumei! Nazo no Basha wo Oe" (Mission! Chase the Mysterious Carriage), which debuted in a catalog at Takashimaya stores, and "Chocolat Dai-Sakuen" (The Great Chocolat Operation), which debuted on the Takashimaya app. The latter manga is available on the app until February 14.

The Amour du Chocolat! event is offering a variety of chocolates for sale at select Takashimaya department stores in Japan. The highlight of this year's annual Valentine's Day campaign is Rose of Versailles-themed chocolates. The collaboration is giving away 100,000 tickets for a 50th anniversary event celebrating Ikeda's career.

Ikeda appeared at talk events for the collaboration. Ikeda and the all-female Takarazuka Revue Company's Kaname Ouki appeared at a related talk show event on February 1. Ouki played Oscar in the popular Takarazuka musical adaptation of Rose of Versailles. The chocolate collaboration is also offering eight smartphone camera frames, and the creative team Naked produced a special video.
