Baseball Team Hanshin Tigers Go Super Saiyan for Promotional Collaboration

The spring baseball season in Japan has become another avenue to introduce anime crossovers. These routinely come in two varieties: the macho and the moe. The Hiroshima Toyo Carp picked the former for its tie-in with The Fist of the North Star and the Hanshin Tigers are following suit by imagining its players as literal Super Saiyans.

Five players, catcher Fumihito Haraguchi, outfielder Yoshio Itoi and Shun Takayama, and infielders Takashi Toritani and Fumiya Hōjō are drawn in familiar costumes for the collaboration.

Each player's Dragon Ball Super persona is available on t-shirts, smartphone stands, buttons, and face towels. The merchandise goes on sale on May 5, although some is already available via the official online store. These items are limited edition and will only be sold in small batches.

The Hanshin Tigers previously got its own manga magazine special issue and collaborated with the American comic X-Men.
