Unravel a Layton Mystery & Discover a Secret Cafe Location in L.A.

posted on by Lynzee Loveridge

Level-5 is promoting the English release of Layton's Mystery Journey: Katrielle and the Millionaires' Conspiracy (Layton Mystery Journey: Katriel to Daifugō no Inbō) Nintendo 3DS game with an interactive mystery during this year's E3 Conference. Los Angeles residents can uncover hidden clues to discover the location of a secret Professor Layton cafe open on June 14 only.

The mystery is currently afoot on the game series' social media pages. Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram will each offer one clue a day leading up to June 14. Once discovered, participants can help themselves to complimentary coffee, tea, and snacks or order from the Professor Layton-themed menu while enjoying video game music. Hershel and Katrielle Layton stand-ups will also be in the cafe for photo ops as well as all the info you need about the Layton's Mystery Journey: Katrielle and the Millionaires' Conspiracy game.

In the game, Katrielle Layton is the daughter of Professor Hershel Layton. The story is set in London, where she will solve any incident, from missing cats to murder cases. Her initial purpose, however, was to look for her father, who has disappeared. The game was originally titled Lady Layton: Fugō-ō Ariadne no Inbō (Lady Layton: Millionaire King Ariadne's Conspiracy).

The game will be available in eight languages: Japanese, English, French, Italian, German, Spanish, Dutch, and Korean.

In Japan, the smartphone version will retail for 1,900 yen (about US$17.50), and some in-game items will cost extra. Level-5 stressed that players can still play to the ending of the game without buying any extra items. The Nintendo 3DS version of the game will also be available in Japan digitally and physically. The game will retail for 4,800 yen (US$44). It's due out in the West this fall.
