Kemono Friends x Chiba Zoo Collaboration Features 54-Hour Shoebill Livestream

posted on by Amanda Whalen

A new collaboration has been announced between the wildly popular Kemono Friends anime and the Japanese nature program Kongetsu no Ikimono (This Month's Living Things), which is broadcast live on Niconico. The collaboration episode, "A 54-hour Live Broadcast of Shoebill @Chiba Zoological Park," will run from 10:00 AM JST on September 23 to 4:00 PM JST on September 25.

Kongetsu no Ikimono is a nature observation show that does long, live broadcasts from a fixed point for various different animals. Previous animals broadcast have included giant isopods, otters, and fire ants. Shoebills are notable for their tendency to remain still for long periods of time.

The collaboration will also include an "animal raising experience" featuring the Kemono Friends anime voice actors Kana Motomiya (Fennec), Saki Ono (Common Raccoon), Ikuko Chikuta (Humboldt Penguin), and Misae Komori (Shoebill). This event is tentatively planned for 2 - 3 PM JST on Sunday, September 24 at the Chiba Zoological Park in Chiba City.

The Chiba Zoological Park will also be running a Kemono Friends "Quiz Rally" event from September 16 to October 15. The quiz will include questions about Shoebill, Alpaca Suri, Humboldt Penguin, Lion, and Red Panda at the appropriate exhibits. All participants will receive one original postcard while supplies last. Participants who get all of the quiz questions correct will be entered into a lottery to receive one of 100 can badges.

The zoo will also be selling limited edition Kemono Friends can badges (five varieties), notebooks, ball pens, and clear files during the event.
