Inio Asano Draws Art Display for Village Vanguard's Shibuya Shop

posted on by Lynzee Loveridge

Shoppers at the Village Vanguard store in Shibuya are in for an artistic treat. Goodnight Punpun manga creator Inio Asano drew a huge illustration now on display at the entrance of the shop. The image shows two giant girls in the midst of a cityscape surrounded tech goods, snacks, panties, and random animals.

The girls are actually characters from Asano's imaginary work "Asoko ga...Junk!!" created last year for Village Vanguard's apparel brand VVEAR.

The artwork measures 3.2 meters long and 3.5 meters wide and covers the store's entrance wall, beckoning customers to walk through it to enter the store. Village Vanguard is hoping the large, in-your-face art will make it a new landmark meeting spot.

Village Vanguard stores across Japan will also host new goods based on Asano's work starting on October 30 to mark the new release of Reiraku manga. Asano ended the series in Big Comic Superior magazine in July.

Asano also recently drew promotional poster artwork for the Natsu no Mamono 2017 in Kawasaki festival that took place earlier this month.
