Slam Dunk Revives 1996 Calendar for 2018

posted on by Jennifer Sherman

Fans of Slam Dunk will soon get to relive the franchise's glory days. The anime's 1996 calendar is getting a new release for 2018.

Ensky is releasing the "remastered" calendar as a reprint of the 1996 calendar. The new calendar will have the same art and design as the 1996 edition.

The wall calendar will cost 1,800 yen (about US$16), and the desk calendar will cost 1,500 yen (US$13). The calendars will go on sale in Japan at the end of October.

Takehiko Inoue's original manga ran in Shueisha's Weekly Shonen Jump magazine from 1990 to 1996. Viz Media released the 31-volume series in North America.

The manga inspired a television anime, which originally aired from 1993 to 1996, and several anime films. Crunchyroll added the English-dubbed version of the television series to its catalog in 2015. Cinedigm also released Slam Dunk season one, volume one on English dub-only DVD in 2015. Toei had released four DVD volumes of the anime with an English dub in 2005 before ceasing its direct distribution plans in North America.
