Virtual Reality Comes to Kyoto's Animate Cafe

posted on by Lynzee Loveridge

One Animate Cafe will offer new virtual experiences for its customers. The "VR Theater" service will launch at the Animate Cafe Kyoto location on November 3 and will give visitors the opportunity to use maneuver gear in the world of Attack on Titan, watch a Hatsune Miku concert, or get voice acting pointers from Daisuke Namikawa.

The service's extensive line-up includes the Death Note escape game that was available at Anime Expo this year, Ghost in the Shell VIRTUAL REALITY DIVER, GANTZ: O_VR, Ultraman Zero VR, a virtual butler cafe, a horror experience featuring the Nogizaka46 idols, and more.

The VR Theater is a service booth that can easily be implemented in hotels, karaoke parlors, and game centers. It currently has over 20 different virtual reality experiences. There's no need for a reservation, participants pay a few fees to use the booth before taking off on a new adventure.

Virtual reality is making headway across the tech and video game industries. Japan opened a school dedicated to virtual reality in April. Bandai Namco Games opened its virtual reality arcade n Shinjuku on July 14.
