Dragon Ball Super Teams Up With Reality Show for TV Special

Goku has been fighting Frieza in the animated world for decades, but the battle will soon his the streets of real-world Yokohama. The run for money Tōsōchu game show is collaborating with the Dragon Ball Super anime for a television special that will air on January 6.

The special will be set in Yokohama Chinatown. In the special, Goku will help a group of Runners defeat Frieza and his secret schemes. Goku and the Runners will have 100 minutes to stop Frieza's plans and claim 1.2 million yen (about US$11,000) in prize money.

The Runners in the special will be the following celebrities:

Among the group, only Okada and Komiya have appeared on run for money Tōsōchu before.

In regular episodes of run for money Tōsōchu, Runners try to escape Hunters who appear as men in black. Runners who escape the Hunters can earn a variable amount of prize money. The show inspired the American reality television show Cha$e on Syfy.

The television speical is not the first time Dragon Ball has collaborated with an athletic event. The "world's first Dragon Ball fan run" was held in Chiba in September.
