Tobu Zoo Prepares New Anime Collaboration with Bungō Stray Dogs

posted on by Lynzee Loveridge

The Tobu Zoo won a special place in anime fans hearts after hosting a Kemono Friends collaboration that sent its resident penguin Grape-kun to stardom. Sadly, the elderly penguin passed away last October. Since then, things have been relatively quiet on the collaboration front at the Tobu Zoo, but the facility is gearing up for a new collaboration. It's not with Kemono Friends this time, but the Bungo Stray Dogs: Dead Apple film that opens in theaters in Japan on March 3.

The anime series and film stars famous literary authors reimagined with supernatural powers. The main character Atsushi Nakajima has an alternate form. He's able to transform into a white tiger. Tobu Zoo will be honing in on Atsushi's alternate form for the collaboration.

Tobu Zoo is home to its own white tiger population. Starting on February 24, life-size cutouts of members of the series' Armed Detective Company will appear throughout the park and Atsushi's voice actor Yūto Uemura will record announcements that will be broadcast throughout the zoo. Artwork of Atsushi with the park's white tiger Rocky will also be on display along with original merchandise and a cafe collaboration menu.

The tie-in event will run at Tobu Zoo until April 8.
