Thermae Romae Returns as PC Browser Game on February 15

posted on by Jennifer Sherman

Yahoo! Japan Games will launch a browser social game inspired by Mari Yamazaki's Thermae Romae manga on February 15. The pre-registration period opened on Tuesday.

In the game, players will become members of the "flat-faced tribe" and manage their own bathhouses. With the goal of becoming Japan's best bathhouse proprietor, players will be able to submerge themselves in the baths of "bath friends," collect Bath Balls, and play various games. The manga's main character Lucius will appear, and players will be able to please him with Japanese culture items.

People who pre-register for the game will receive special items.

Yamazaki ended her Thermae Romae manga in March 2013. The manga inspired a television anime mini-series and two live-action films starring Hiroshi Abe and Aya Ueto. Yen Press publishes the manga in North America, while Discotek licensed the anime in North America.

Yamazaki will launch a new manga tentatively titled Olympia Kyklo (Olympic Circle) in Shueisha's Grand Jump magazine in spring 2018. The comedy story will center on a king from Ancient Greece who is transported to the 1964 Tokyo Olympics.
