Code Geass Gets Anime Music Piano Solo CD

posted on by Jennifer Sherman

After inspiring soundtrack CDs, theme song CDs, and drama CDs, the Code Geass franchise's next CD release will be an anime music piano solo CD. Code Geass - Hangyaku no Lelouch Piano Solo Collection will include covers of music from the anime and ship on March 28. The television anime's chief animation director Yuriko Chiba provided the jacket illustration for the CD.

The CD will cost 2,593 yen (about US$24) and include 13 theme and insert songs from both seasons of the Code Geass television anime series rearranged for piano. Pianist Yui Morishita performed the music on a Bösendorfer Imperial Grand piano for the CD's recordings. A concert to mark the CD's release will be held at Yamaha Hall in Ginza, Tokyo on April 26.

In addition, the related Code Geass: Lelouch of the Rebellion Code Geass: Lelouch of the Rebellion R2 Best Selection piano solo music score book will ship for 2,700 yen (about US$25) on March 26. The book will include scores for 22 of the anime's theme and insert songs. The same illustration of Lelouch from the CD's jacket will appear on the cover, and the book will bundle an A3-size poster of the image. The book will also include eight pages of color character and anime scene illustrations.

The anime franchise is inspiring a compilation film trilogy to celebrate its 10th anniversary and lead up to the premiere of a new television anime season. The film trilogy recaps all 50 episodes of both Code Geass series. The cast are re-recording all their lines for the films, and the films include new scenes. The second compilation film opened in Japan on February 10.
