Prince of Tennis Valentine Ranking Gets 400,000+ Chocolates in 2018
posted on by Jennifer Sherman
Every year, Prince of Tennis fans send chocolate to Shueisha to vote in a ranking contest for their favorite character. Manga creator Takeshi Konomi revealed on Twitter on Monday that the franchise's annual chocolate campaign received a total of more than 400,000 chocolate gifts this year, which is more than double the amount received last year.

Konomi also stated that this year's summer countdown event, titled "Shin Tennis no Ōji-sama 2018 Valentine Choco Kakutoku Ranking ~Happy Summer Valentine~ in Sendai," will be held in Sendai, Miyagi to count down the winning characters. More information about the event will be revealed in the future.
Staff began tallying the chocolates shortly after they were received. After putting in a few hours to help, Konomi said in March that the chocolate gifts received had doubled from 2017's more than 180,000 items. Shueisha relocated the collecting space this year after staff were "buried" in chocolates last year.
