posted on by Lynzee Loveridge

A short anime commemorating the completion of East Nippon Expressway Company's (E-NEXCO) soon to be opened Tokyo Outer Ring Expressway on the Misato-Minami interchange to Kōya junction began streaming on May 16. The newly completed road will open on June 2

The anime stars Jun Shison (anohana: The Flower We Saw That Day (live-action special) as Takashi, a florist whose shop is located near the newly opened section of the expressway. Singer Rina Kawaei voices Aya, a nurse whose life becomes entwined with Takashi's after he drops off a large potted plant at the hospital. The two are unable to talk because Takashi must leave quickly to beat traffic.

Takashi and Aya cross paths again, but Takashi becomes distressed when his father doesn't pick up his phone after complaining of pain the previous day. Both Aya and Takashi get into his car to go check on him, but are delayed again by traffic. They notice the new expressway line is open and decide to take it, and quickly reach Takashi's father's house.

The short anime includes the song "DOWNTOWN BOY" by Yumi Matsutoya.
