Cup Noodle's Attack on Titan Collaboration Fights Back Against Mystery Meat Oppression

posted on by Jennifer Sherman

Nissin Foods' Cup Noodle brand of instant noodles revealed a new collaboration with the Attack on Titan anime on Tuesday. The collaboration promotes the brand's new "Cup Noodle Smoky Chili Soy Sauce Flavor" noodles with the new chili variety of "mystery meat" cubes.

In the collaboration's story, humans live in a world controlled by Cup Noodle mystery meat (Titans), and they decide to fight back against the oppression of Nissin Foods and its giant creatures. In this battle to save humanity, the Survey Corps uses forks and kettles of boiling water to combat those enemies who try to destroy them. On the 729th mission to suppress the mystery meat monsters, a "rare variety" of mystery meat appears that is different from normal mystery meat. The Survey Corps scrambles to react to the unexpected challenge.

As previously confirmed in a Detective Conan campaign last September, Cup Noodle's mystery meat chunks are actually made of a mixture that primarily consists of ground meat and soy. The type of meat used varies by the variety of Cup Noodle.

The new chili-flavored mystery meat blocks are the first of three special varieties of mystery meat in new Cup Noodle flavors that the campaign will reveal. The collaboration website teases that the next flavor is related to the sea.

The collaboration website is also streaming six Attack on Titan "customer voice" videos. In the videos, the franchise's characters appear as customers who are trying the new flavor of Cup Noodle. All of the collaboration videos feature clips from the Attack on Titan anime with newly recorded dialogue and visual edits to inserts items such as forks and kettles.

Cup Noodle previously partnered with Attack on Titan in 2014 to offer special packages that bundled memo stands.
