Pokémon 1st Edition Booster Box Sells for $56,000

posted on by Lynzee Loveridge

The hope of holographic Charizard lives on in the hands of one big spender. Someone just closed out an auction for a first edition, unopened box of Pokémon Trading Card game booster packs to the tune of US$56,000. Huggins & Scott Auctions handled the auction, first pricing the box at US$20,000.

A previous auction for an unopened booster box has sold for US$54,200 while individual cards from the packs have gone for as much as US$55,650 (and yeah, it was a holographic Charizard).

The ultra-rare Pokémon Illustrator trading card auctioned for US$54,970 in 2016. For those of us who can't go out spending a year's salary on original Pokémon Cards, Japan did a reprint a few years back.
