AnimeJapan 2019 Launches 'Most Wanted Anime Adaptation' Poll, Reveals Theme

posted on by Lynzee Loveridge

One of the industry's largest conventions is still six months away but the staff are already prepping for the biggest AnimeJapan event yet. Next year will mark AnimeJapan's sixth annual convention and staff are taking inspiration from the number six itself. The convention will focus on "rock" (roku) at Tokyo Big Sight from March 23-26.

An entire area of the convention hall will be dedicated to artwork, merchandise, and cosplay centering on "rock" and the Production Works Gallery corner will highlight the sound behind anime, like music, special effects, and voice acting. The convention's exhibition hall of company booths aren't going anywhere while two presentation stages can entertain 500 each and another two stages can accommodate up to 1,000 spectators each.

The convention's website is prepping a poll with the results to be revealed live at the convention in March. The site is accepting nominations until the end of October for manga that readers want to see adapted into anime. Manga nominees have to be published within 2018 and cannot have previously been adapted into an anime.

Tickets to AnimeJapan go on sale in late January. The convention is broken up into business and public days. March 23-24 are public days followed by business only days on March 25-26. The public days coincide with the event's Family Animation Festa 2019 that promises to entertain parents and kids.

Last year's AnimeJapan convention drew 152,331 people over four days. The event exceeded last year's attendance of 145,453 people, and 2016's attendance of 135,323 people.
