Nakayoshi Includes Memorial Card for Manga Creator Yu Asagiri

posted on by Lynzee Loveridge

The January 2019 issue of Kodansha's Nakayoshi magazine released on Saturday included a memorial card for the recently passed manga creator You Asagiri (Yū Asagiri). Asagiri died on October 27 after battling severe pneumonia. She was 62 years old.

Asagiri serialized many works within Nakayoshi's pages during her 42 years as a manga creator. The magazine's memorial card features artwork from her Nana Iro Magic and Minmin! manga. Nana Iro Magic won a Kodansha Manga Award at the 11th awards in 1987.

Central Park Media released Asagiri's Golden Cain manga in English, and SuBLime released later released the manga digitally. Central Park Media also released Asagiri's four-volume Midnight Panther manga in English. The manga inspired a two-episode OVA series in 1998, which Central Park Media also released on VHS in 1999 and on DVD in 2002.

Asagiri also drew the Sotsugyō Shashin, Onee-san no Jijou, Hitomi no Giwaku, Hitomi no Honne, Gogo no Ihoujin, and Cash Connection manga.
