Voice Actor Hiro Shimono to Perform First-Time Lead Role in Live-Action Film Chronos Jaunter

posted on by Kim Morrissy

Voice actor Hiro Shimono, who is best known for his roles as Keima Katsuragi in The World God Only Knows, Connie Springer in Attack on Titan, and Kokichi Ōma in Danganronpa V3: Killing Harmony, will perform the lead role in his first live-action film Chronos Jaunter, which is slated to open in theaters in spring 2019. The film is based on a novel by award-winning science fiction writer Shinji Kajio and is directed by Kentaro Hachisuka (Alice in Dreamland, Here Comes Santa Claus).

The film project posted a special video on Friday showing Shimono and the main staff of the film commenting on their involvement in the film. At the end of the video, a scene from the film is teased showing Shimono's character screaming in agony.

In the video, Shimono describes the film as "a science fiction story about a man who loops through time over and over in order to save his loved one." He says, "Although I'm really nervous about it, I'm also really looking forward to it, personally."

The film follows a man named Kazuhiko Fukihara (played by Shimono) who falls in love with a girl named Kumiko who works at a flower shop. Fukihara's company is developing the "Chronos Jaunter," which is capable of sending things back in time. One day, Kumiko vanishes due to an accident. Fukihara gets into the Chronos Jaunter and travels through time in order to find her, but there's something vital that he doesn't know about the Chronos Jaunter.
