The Japan House venue in Los Angeles will host the "This is MANGA – The Art of NAOKI URASAWA" exhibit from January 23 to March 28. The exhibition is a retrospective on the Monster and 20th Century Boys manga creator's career with more than 400 original drawings and storyboards. The exhibition will also change out a Yawara! exhibit bi-weekly to showcase four consecutive stories, thus imitating the serial manga publication style.

Urasawa's works have collectively sold over 127 million copies in Japan alone. His manga are published in over 20 countries. He's won the Fauve Special Award and the Fauve Polar SNCF Special Award from Angoulême International Comics Festival last year and previously claimed the grand prize for long-form work award for 20th Century Boys in 2004 and an Intergenerational Award for Pluto in 2011. His other accolades include the Tezuka Award Grand Prize, the Media Arts Award for Excellence, the Kodansha Manga Award and the Shogakukan Manga Award.

The exhibition will include a reading area fully stocked with English translated volumes of Urasawa's work.

Fans will get a chance to meet Urasawa in person on January 23. Visitors can attend the "Drawing My World: An Interview with Naoki Urasawa" event with the purchase of a book at Japan House's monozukuri shop. Japan House will also host drawing seminars to compliment Urasawa's work throughout the month of February. The workshops will be lead by Los Angeles-based animator and illustrator, MinoMiyabi.

He ended his Mujirushi - Le signe des rêves (The Sign of Dreams) manga, a collaboration project with Paris' Louvre Museum, last year. He's currently serializing his new Renzoku Manga Shōsetsu Asadora! (Serial Manga Novel Asadora!) manga Shogakukan's Weekly Big Comic Spirits magazine.
