Austrian Animator Bahi JD Gets Exhibit in Tokyo

Austrian animator and illustrator Bahi JD will be getting an exhibit at the Shinjuku Ophthalmologist (Ganka) Gallery from June 21 to July 3. The theme of the exhibit is "Moment," and it will consist of illustrations, oil paintings, sketches, and animation works. Part of the exhibit will also showcase an animation device inspired by flickering strobe lights and the zoetrope.

Bahi JD is a self-taught animator and was highly active on Ben Ettinger's Japanese indie animation-themed website Anipages before making his professional debut in the Japanese animation industry. He was a key animator on Space Dandy and Blade Runner: Black Out 2022, and recently storyboarded and directed the opening of Carole & Tuesday.
