43-Year-Old Pokémon GO Player Arrested After Fight Over In-Game Gym

Toyota, Aichi police announced on July 22 that a 43-year-old self-employed man was arrested after a fight broke out between himself and an other Pokémon GO player. The man allegedly struck and injured another player in the face. Police stated that the man admitted to the charges.
According to Toyota Police, a 44-year-old man's face was beaten and his nose broken around midnight on May 22 on a street near the Toyota Shimin Bunka Kaikan venue. The victim was playing Pokémon GO. Police arrested the alleged attacker on July 21.
The two men encountered one another outside Toyota Shimin Bunka Kaikan. Toyota Shimin Bunka Kaikan is a gym location within Pokémon GO and an issue between the two men stemmed from there. The victim reported the attack to police who were able to track down the alleged assailant from his account information.
Pokémon GO has brought joy to gamers around the world. Couples have met while playing and ended up with their own happily ever after.
