Chinese Cup Noodle Ad Shows Alternate Story for Sword Art Online: Alicization

Cup Noodles' Chinese brand Hé Wèi Dào posted an ad on Chinese social media platform Sina Weibo showing Kirito and Alice from Sword Art Online: Alicization enjoying cup noodles together. The ad features exclusive footage and new recorded lines by the voice actors in Japanese with Chinese subtitles.
The ad opens with the events of episodes 16 ad 17: Kirito and Eugo fight against Alice, only for Kirito and Alice to end up dangling outside the tower. As they work to climb their way back up inside, they get hungry, and Kirito offers Alice some cup noodles to eat. Alice is haughty at first but eventually digs in while Kirito explains that she is eating seafood flavor Cup Noodle.
Just as they are about to eat, minions from the Dark Territory appear, targeting the cup noodles. Alice closes the cup's lid, which prompts the minions to leave. After leaving the noodles inside the cup to cook for a while, Alice eats the noodles and enjoys the taste so much that she stubbornly refuses to let Kirito eat some too. Meanwhile, Eugeo, who has been feeling left out throughout this entire ad, randomly appears at the end, startling Kirito and Alice as they eat.
Last year, Cup Noodle sponsored a China-exclusive Re:ZERO -Starting Life in Another World- ad. The brand regularly collaborates with anime series and video games, sometimes with humorous results. The Survey Corps of Attack on Titan fought back against mystery meat, reimagined popular anime love stories, and introduced a wacky, multi-level collaboration with Final Fantasy XV.
Sword Art Online: Alicization premiered in Japan in October 2018. The series is adapting the entire "Alicization Arc" of Reki Kawahara's original novels and will air for four cours, or four quarters of a year. The first two cours aired from October to March, and the second two cours, titled Sword Art Online: Alicization - War of Underworld, will premiere in October.
