Yu-Gi-Oh! Card Game Now Has Over 10,000 Unique Cards

posted on by Kim Morrissy

The Yu-Gi-Oh! official card game has produced over 10,000 unique cards as of October 2019. To celebrate the occasion, the franchise has launched a special website, Twitter campaign, and events in Osaka, Nagoya, and Tokyo. The card game is also celebrating its 20th anniversary in Japan.

Cards from the game will be displayed at Osaka's Grand Front from October 21 to 24; at Nagoya's Oasis 21 from November 5 to 7; and at Tokyo's Shinjuku station from November 18 to 24. A limited print of 30,000 Kanan the Swordmistress cards will be distributed at these venues during the exhibit run.

In addition, 100 copies of a "secret rare" version of the Kanan the Swordmistress card will be given out for the Twitter campaign. Users must follow the @YuGiOh_OCG_INFO account and tweet the name of a card they have memories about with the hashtag #遊戯王OCG10000種突破 (10,000 Yu-Gi-Oh! OCG types achieved).

Konami first launched the Yu-Gi-Oh! trading card game in 1999 in Japan. The rules are based on the Duel Monsters game created by Kazuki Takahashi for the Yu-Gi-Oh! manga in 1996. The series has spawned anime, films, spinoffs, video games, and more.
