Making a Living in Manga in Japan with Felipe Smith
Lost in Translation
Fast action from the fan community regarding Nelvana's licensing of the Card Captor Sakura TV series has resulted in a petition that is actually being followed by someone in charge. Our collegues at AnimeOnDVD.com have erected a petition among their list of DVD petitions in the hopes of having a VHS subtitled and DVD release of the series.
This was in response to a correspondence between Nelvana and fan Derek Sherman, in which Nelvana said, "it already seems clear to me that an organized effort is underway, based on the deluge of e-mails sent to our website today... A petition would indeed by a more practical means by which to approach the matter." Although the spokesperson was unable to comment on who would be releasing the series to home video, he offered to pass on the information to whatever company got them.
The spokesman also reiterated that whatever approach taken to quell the fans asking for a subtitled program is taken, it would be at the mercy of Japanese licensor Kodansha."Please be patient while a number of variables are settled. Your enthusiasm is appreciated and again, encouraging," he wrote.
AnimeOnDVD.com editor-in-chief Chris Beveridge has asked for fans' help in creating banners to advertise this effort.
