Kia Asamiya Announces American Convention Appearances

posted on

Popular manga artist Kia Asamiya, creator of the Silent Möbius, Steam Detectives, Dark Angel, Nadesico series, and artist of the Star Wars: Episode One manga, has announced he will be attending three major U.S. anime and comic conventions this year.

First on Mr. Asamiya's schedule will be Animazement in Raleigh, North Carolina, from March 10th - 12th, where he will be appearing as the guest of honor. It will be his first appearance at Animazement. In order to commemorate his first visit to an East Coast convention and to make the event extra special for all the fans who attend, Mr. Asamiya will be illustrating a limited edition print that will be available only at the con. It will be limited to 1000 editions and be sold for only $5.00 to all Animazement attendees. Asamiya-sensei is being very secretive about what the print will be of at this point but assures fans they will not be disappointed by what he comes up with. The print will be sold exclusively at the Fanboy Entertainment booth in the dealer's room until they're all gone. For more info on the Animazement, visit www.animazement.org.

Next up for Mr. Asamiya will be Comic Con International at San Diego from July 20-23rd. It will be his third appearance at the San Diego convention. While in San Diego, he will be promoting several of his new projects and comics, including his much-rumored, new, full color Dark Angel: Phoenix Resurrection manga series from Image Comics, as well as his new U.S. comic label, Tronix. (More news on this soon.) For more info on the Comic Con International at San Diego, visit www.comic-con.org.

The last stop on his "American tour" will take him to the Windy City of Chicago for Wizard World Chicago from August 4-6th at the Rosemont Convention Center. This is his second appearance at the convention. Mr. Asamiya had such a good time last year he just has to go back. At Chicago this year he is planning on possibly conducting a more in depth "How To Draw Manga" lecture to support his upcoming line of English language manga sketchbooks. (More news on this soon too.) He is also planning a special Wizard World exclusive poster, not to mention a few other goodies for all the fans who come to see him.
