Monster Rancher Beats Pokemon!

posted on
"Pokémon" has appeared to have cooled down in popularity according to the latest ratings from Nielson. The animated cartoon was bested for the first time by BKN Network's hit "Monster Rancher." The Nielsen Television Index reported that "Monster Rancher" captured a 5.9 household share of the boys age 2-11 audience and a 7.4 share of boys age 6-11 the week of February 21, beating the WB's Pokémon, which held a 5.6 and 7.2 share, respectively.
"We're very excited," says ADV Films' President John Ledford. "With any hit show, it's just a matter of time before the public-in this case, a highly sought-after public-selects a new favorite. And those kids could have picked any Saturday morning cartoon, but what they decided they liked was 'Monster Rancher.'"

ADV Films debuts "Monster Rancher" on home video later this week. The three-episode tapes will hit stores today, with "Monster Rancher" DVDs hitting shelves April 25th. Based on the popular video games Monster Rancher 1 & 2, the animated series first began airing in late 1999, and has steadily been climbing in the ratings and gaining popularity among kids around the country.

ADV has launched a website devoted to "Monster Rancher" atwww.monster-rancher-fan.com that features character bios, story synopses, and an "Ask Suezo" feedback page.
