News DVD releases

A few upcoming DVDs that have been announced this past week:
Voyager Entertainment announced Starblazers Vol. #2 for release on December 8th, 100 minutes, $29.99
New Cutey Honey Vol. #2 will arrive on December 5th from ADV.
The complete Shamanic Princess series from Media Blasters should be out on February 13th. As well as Sprite: Between Two Worlds, Urotsukidoji IV and a Urotsukidoji Box Set containing the four DVD's all on the same date. The Urotsukidoji DVDs are all bilingual but not subtitled.
Agent Aika: Naked Missions on DVD is due on March 13th, with a running time of 100 minutes. The second half, Agent Aika: Final Battle should be out on May 8th with a running time of 75 minutes. Both volumes are billingual and will retail for $29.99.

There is but one volume remaining to Ouran High School Host Club, and it has been a fun ride. While this book doesn't quite live up the earlier ones in terms of pure, lighthearted enjoyment, it is still solidly entertaining.
Cage of Eden has all of the elements of a classic survival epic – monsters, diseases, an unfriendly wilderness with no perceived escape, and our own ability as humans to lie. While it can be laid on a bit thick at times, and the fanservice or treatment of the adult female characters may be objectionable to some, Yamada's story is an engrossing one.
Nothing here shakes up the series the way parts of the last volume did, but it's consummate entertainment nonetheless: slick and effortlessly propulsive, yet still respectful of its audience and characters.

This adaptation of the hit video game still lacks any semblance of originality, but there's some light comedy that brightens up an otherwise dull series. If there's nothing else to watch, go ahead and put it on anyway.
