Among the most powerful men of the Japanese Film Industry. New Ghibli book about Masahiro Ioka.

The Japanese version of movie magazine "Premiere" has published a list of "The Most Powerful 100 of Japanese Film Industry". The late Yasuyoshi Tokuma, the president of Tokuma Publishing and the financial backer of Studio Ghibli, was ranked 3rd. Hayao Miyazaki himself was ranked 4th.

1. Shigeru Okada, the chairman of Toei (movie company) and Japan Film
Industry Association.
2. Tsuguhiko Kadokawa, the president of Kadokawa Publishing. Kadokawa also
produces films.
3. Yasuyoshi Tokuma
4. Hayao Miyazaki
5. Takeshi Kitano
6. Nobuyuki Idei, the CEO of Sony
7. Kinji Fukasaku, a film director
8. Koji Yakusyo, an actor (Shall We Dance?)
9. Yoji Yamada, a film director (Tora-San series)
10. Isao Matsuoka, the chairman of TOHO (movie company)

In other Ghibli related news, Ghibli opened its own book page listing the many books that have been published by Studio Ghibli, as well as giving a glimpse at upcoming books. According to the page, Ghibli is going to publish a book about Masahiro Ioka, the art director of "Heidi" and "Anne of Green Gables," in April. The book will include an article written by Isao Takahata and interviews with other staff who worked with Masahiro, including Miyazaki.
