CPM will be publishing Astra, an 8 part collaborative comic by Jerry Robinson, Ken-ichi Oishi, Shojin Tanaka and singer/songwriter Sidra Cohn.

Astra, which was originally conceived as a theatrical musical, derives its name from the main character, a blond princess named Astra. Princess Astra, who has never seen a man since all men on her planet were killed in a war, is searching space for the "manly essence" which is needed for her people's survival.

Astra #1 ships in July with two different covers, the standard cover by Shojin Tanaka, and an alternate by Jim Balent. In addition to the two covers, there is a limited number of issues with the alternate, Jim Balent cover that will be hand signed by Mr. Balent.

Jerry Robinson, the creator of Astra, is the artist who collaborated on the original Golden Age Batman comic with Bob Kane. Robinson is also the president/editorial director of the Cartoonists & Writers Syndicate.

Shojin Tanaka, is the artist for Metal Boy and Maniacs 21. Ken-ichi Oishi is the writer of Hotel.
