Big Apple Anime Fest announces International Costume Contest

NEW YORK, NY - May 11, 2001 - The Big Apple Anime Fest, a weekend of Japanese animation-related events and screenings scheduled for October 26-28 2001, has announced an international costume contest on its website, www.BigAppleAnimeFest.com.

Anime costume play ("Cosplay") has long been a tradition among anime fans, but now Big Apple Anime Fest is taking it to the next level. Between now and the end of August 2001, fans can submit digital files of themselves in costume as their favorite anime characters, and vie to win a free trip to Big Apple Anime Fest from anywhere in the world, or opt for a US$1,500 cash prize.

"The submitted pictures will be judged by Big Apple Anime Fest employees, and the top ten entries will be put up every two weeks on BigAppleAnimeFest.com," said Justin Sevakis, Manager of Fan Relations. "Visitors to the web site can then vote on their favorite pictures, and even post comments about them."

The winner of the online vote will win the grand prize, a trip to Big Apple Anime Fest in New York City, or US$1,500 in cash. First, second and third place cash prizes will also be rewarded. Winners will be announced in September.

Complete rules and details are available at www.BigAppleAnimeFest.com.
