Fans debate the original language

According to Urban Vision staff, the North American DVD release of Vampire Hunter D: Bloodlust will not contain a Japanese audio track. As you may know, Bloodlust was originally recored in English and shown with Japanese subtitles in theatres in Japan.

Nonetheless, fans have been debating on the official Vampire Hunter D: Bloodlust forum andAnime on DVD's Forum what language is the original for Bloodlust.

Some fans point out that despite being originally recorded in English, the original script was written in Japanese and then translated into English. They would prefer to see the film with the dialog originally written by Mr. Kawajiri, believing that something was probably lost in the translation.

Alternatively, other have pointed out that Mr. Kawajiri was closely involved in the English production of the film and the fine tuning of the English script beyond his original Japanese script.

While the final decision regarding which language track they would prefer to listen to obviously lies with the buyers, those that chose Japanese will have no other option than to purchase the Region 2 DVD.
