Macross Ramifications

More details and reactions regarding Macross and Robotech Licences

AnimEigo boss Robert Woodhead has responded to all enquiries regarding their Macross DVD's with "Obviously, there is no way I can make any sort of comment until I get more information from Harmony Gold, but I will make a statement as soon as there is something useful to say. Please be patient with us, it may take a while to get any solid information." However when asked by a reader of Anime News Service if AnimEigo would stop selling the Macross DVD's he responded with, "Unlikely. Neither we nor HG are at fault, we've acted in good faith. It might take a while to get sorted out. But again, until I know more, it is useless to speculate."

When Anime News Service's reader asked a similar question to Manga Entertainment's Keith Burgess in relation to Macross Plus and Macross 2 the simple short answer was "Nope," (they won't stop selling or postpone releases).

Legally, AnimEigo, AD Vision and all other sub-licensors of Robotech / Macross can continue to sell their products until an injuctgion is placed barring them to do so. So far there has been no word of any such injuction being placed on any companies.

So far their has been a lot of speculation as to what exaclty is at stake, it still isn't clear exactly which Macross properties will be affected and how. As Mr. Woodhead said, "It might take a while to get sorted out. ... it is useless to speculate."
