Urban Vision picks expands out of the Anime Arena with Slammin' Sammy... the Sammy Sosa Story

When Urban Vision's familly entertainment label Lil'Vision releases Slammin' Sammy... the Sammy Sosa Story UV will join the majority of the other North American Anime distributors that have already released non-Anime titles.

According to Urban Vision rep Rhona Medina, Slammin' Sammy... the Sammy Sosa Story has "Nothing to do with Anime." The direct to video movie was produced by SSA Productions with pre-production by Ruby-Spears Productions (Scooby Doo).

Being as this is their first non-anime release (which they have not licensed but are distributing) this is pretty much uncharted teritory for UV. They will be focusing a fair portion of their distribution and marketing in key areas such as Chicago, where the story is likely to be more popular (Sammy Sosa plays for the Chicago Cubs.)

Slammin' Sammy... the Sammy Sosa Story story about one of the world's most popular athletes. A spectacularly inconsistent player for most of his career, Sosa's season-long battle in 1998 with Mark McGwire for the Major League home run record made daily headlines.
