Two Japanese firms and an anime designer have teamed up to bring the world another step closer to the future.

Kawada Industry and the General Laboratory of Industrial Technology have developed a humanoid robot, called Promet, designed for human work environments. The robot can lug weights up to six kilograms (12 pounds), right itself after falling, and even lay supine. It stands 1.54 meters tall, weighs 58kg, and has a two hour power supply. It is voice operated.

Yutaka Idebuchi, an anime mecha designer, designed the machine.
