This six-episode OVA story fills in a time gap in the first series by looking at certain incidents from multiple different angles. Though hardly crucial viewing, fans of the franchise should find this satisfying.

A young man tries to battle back against giant humanoids who feast on humans in this graphic, visceral, and fantastically intense action/horror story. Its great strengths overcome writing and production value inconsistencies.

Jazz music is much the stars as the main cast in this story about teens who become friends in late 1960s Japan. Great sounds and good character development bolster what is otherwise a fairly pedestrian character drama.

Darker Than Black: Gemini of the Meteor + OVAs (Limited Edition) Blu-Ray + DVD
Though this follow-up story retains the style and action of the first series, its shift to focusing on a new female lead makes it an entirely different animal, one with a tighter and more focused story. Also includes the four-episode interim OVA series.
