The myth of rising Japanese nationalism

The International Herald Tribune has published an essay by Mitsuru Kitano, the Japanese Embassy in Washington's Minister for Public Affairs. The essay, which appeared in the January 13 issue of the IHT and is available online here, refers to antipathy towards Korea as a "counter-trend" held by the minority, in contrast to the growing positive feelings that Japanese people hold towards Koreans. The essay also looks at Japan's relationship with China, and other topics related to Japanese nationalism. Addendum: The essay refers to Kenkanryu, a nationalistic manga that has been previously discussed on ANN.
