Kenji Miyazawa is one of Japan's most reverred children's authors, however the many works of literature that he created did not become famous and respected until his death in 1933 at the young age of 37. Only two of his works, "A Well-Ordered Restaurant" and the first part of "Spring and Ashura," were published before his death.

Other anime based on his works include Night on the Galactic Railroad, A Well-Ordered Restaurant, and Spring and Chaos.
