Magician's Academy Anime from Scrapped Princess Author (Updated)

posted on by Egan Loo
New anime based on light novels by Ichiro Sakaki (Strait Jacket, Polyphonica)

The official website for The Magician's Academy light novel series has opened, and its first piece of news is an announcement that an anime project is in the works for 2008. Ichiro Sakaki wrote The Magician's Academy light novels, and three of his previous light novels series (Scrapped Princess, Shinkyoku Sōkai Polyphonica, Strait Jacket) have been adapted into anime. The character designs of the anime will be based on the light novels' illustrations by the artist Blade.

The story of The Magician's Academy (Macademi for short) revolves around Takuto Hasegawa, a seemingly ordinary high school student who actually attends a magic academy that is not marked on any real-world map. During a summoning spell exam, he accidentally creates a girl named Tanarot. Tanarot happens to possess enough magical power to destroy Takuto's country, but fortunately, Tanarot professes undying loyalty to her "creator."

In addition to the nine volumes of the main novel series, the publisher Enterbrain has released a five-volume short story collection called Macademi Radical and a game for the Sony PlayStation 2 console. Blade also drew a one-volume manga adaptation that was released in 2006. Enterbrain announced on Thursday that a new spinoff novel series called Macademi Experiment will begin next spring.
