Kansen Rettō opens at #1; Major falls to #9

The live-action film adaptation of Masasumi Kakizaki's Kansen Rettō horror manga opened at #1 on Kogyo Tsushinsha's Japanese box office chart during the weekend of January 17-18. According to Box Office Mojo, it earned the equivalent of US$3,325,620. Remioromen's theme song for the movie, "Yume no Tsubomi," debuted at #3 on the singles chart the week before. Major: Yūjō no Winning Shot, Takao Kato's anime film based on Takuya Mitsuda's baseball manga, dropped down from #7 to #9. The movie added the equivalent of US$289,269 to its US$11,004,517 total in its sixth weekend.
