Yoko Kondou's story about woman retracing fiancé's steps after disappearance

WOWOW, a premium television channel in Japan, announced last week that it is running a live-action special based on Yoko Kondou's Ani Kaeru human drama manga. The drama special will premiere on Valentine's Day.

Yoshino Kimura (Shota no Sushi) stars as Makiko Yamashita, a woman whose fiancé Kōichi Noda (Kazuya Takahashi ) suddenly shows up after disappearing three years ago. (Kōichi's father also disappeared under similar mysterious circumstances when Kōichi was a child.) Kōichi cannot speak a word upon his return, so Makiko embarks on a journey to discover what happened to him.

The manga ran in Shogakukan's Big Comic magazine in 2006. Kondou was a finalist for the 9th Tezuka Osamu Bunka-sho (Tezuka Osamu Cultural Prize) in 2005 for her Suikyou Kitan manga.
