Manga creator and illustrator Junko Mizuno will appear at the opening reception of her "Red Tresses and Freckles" solo exhibition at Toronto's Narwhal Art Projects on June 18. The event will showcase Mizuno's art style — described by curators as "gothic kawaii," "kawaii noir," and "sexy Lilith" — in her first solo show in Canada. She also held exhibitions in Europe and the United States.
The American publisher Marvel Comics announced this month that Mizuno is one of the many independent talents contributing to Strange Tales Max, a three-issue anthology that will launch in September. Viz Media published Mizuno's Cinderalla, Hansel and Gretel, and Princess Mermaid books, while Last Gasp Publishing and jaPress shipped her Pure Trance manga.
