2nd Battle Spirits Anime Titled, Dated with Jam Project OP (Updated)

posted on by Egan Loo

The Japanese toy conglomerate Bandai has revealed that the second television anime series based on the Battle Spirits trading card game will premiere on September 13 under the name Battle Spirits: Shōnen Gekiha Dan. The Sunrise anime studio will continue to produce along with the Nagoya TV station and the Asatsu-DK (ADK) advertising agency. JAM Project (MazinKaiser, Yu-Gi-Oh! Duel Monster GX, Super Robot Wars) will perform the opening theme and Mitsuhiro Oikawa (Battle Spirits: Shōnen Toppa Bashin, Revolutionary Girl Utena: The Movie) will sing the ending theme. Like the first anime series, the new series will incorporate computer graphics to portray the battles from the card game.

Bandai is exporting the game to America this summer with demonstrations at Origins Game Fair, Anime Expo, Comic-Con International, and Gen Con Indianapolis. To coincide with the September 10 relaunch of the "new-generation" card game in Japan, Kadokawa Shoten's Kerokero Ace children's magazine will also launch a new Battle Spirits manga series in September. The magazine will continue to run articles about game strategy, profile the story's characters, and include bonus cards.

Update: Nagoya TV has launched an official preview page with confirmation of director Akira Nishimori's involvement and the cast list. However, the page's title and body text lists two conflicting premiere dates.
