Kara no Kyoukai's ufotable Reveals Yawarakame Anime (Updated)

Di Gi Charat's Miyuki Sawashiro to play all main roles in mobile TV anime

The anime studio ufotable (Kara no Kyōkai - the Garden of sinners, Gakuen Utopia Manabi Straight!) revealed its newest work, the Yawarakame short anime, at the Bizan Summit Fall Festival event during the October 10-12 holiday weekend. The anime's title comes from the phrase "yawarakai kame" or "soft turtle."

The project is a collaboration between ufotable and manga creator Yu Yagami (Those Who Hunt Elves, Hikkatsu!); they previously worked together on the Sumeba Miyako no Cosmos-sou Suttoko Taisen Dokkoider television anime series (released as Dokkoida?! by Geneon Entertainment and Sentai Filmworks in North America). Miyuki Sawashiro, the voice actress best known for playing Puchiko/Petit CHARAT in both the Japanese and English versions of Di Gi Charat, is not only playing the title character Kame and the female roles, but all the roles in the main cast.

The Yawarakame anime will be streamed on the BeeTV mobile phone television service. Yagami has been working two to three days a week at ufotable on this project. The Bizan Summit Fall Festival also screened the first Kara no Kyōkai - the Garden of sinners film, Cencoroll, and the anime promotional video that ufotable created for Bandai NAMCO's God Eater game at Tokyo Game Show last month.
